摘　　要：This paper gives a thorough psychological study of Macbeth.Macbeth is noble in nature, but he commits one murder after another in order to win and secure the crown.Shakespeare shows us how Macbeth becomes hardened to his crimes.The contradiction between ambition and humanity is the source of the tragedy of Macbeth.The inner conflict and the disintegration of the character are fully revealed by poetic and restrained imagination.
