摘　　要：The essay is based on The Libido for the Ugly written by Henry Louis Mencken.The writer demonstrates the persuasiveness of the work through two different aspects–persuasive and impressionistic writing skills.After detailed analysis,the reason for the strong credibility of that subjective description could be clearly shown.
