摘　　要：In recent years,numerous textual studies have appeared.However,the majority of them concentrated on the study of cohesion and coherence of sentences.Van Dijk(1977,1980),Holland famous linguist,put forward"Macrostructures"which provide us with a theo retical basis to study macrostructure of texts.The paper aims to introduce it in very detail and make it known to all the English learners.
