摘　　要：There's a memorable song in the Br oadway version of Cabaret:an elderly Berlin widow narr ates her unimaginable hardships throughout a decade of turmoil and turbulence in the early years of the Weimar Republic.This time around,she would marry for money,not love.She begs the audience to put themselves in her shoes:What would you have done?Any urge we might feel to judge this poor widow is ther efore muted,leaving the audience sympathize with her in her misfortune.
