摘　　要：It is the war that distorts and reshapes human mind.Donovan knew the nature of the war better than other characters.He distinguished the line between the human nature and the duty very clearly,he was not a cold blooded executor;instead,Donovan was understandable and considerate,he suffered the conflicts between personal feelings and national interests,sense of guilt and sense of duty.Jeremiah Donovan was a victim of the war.
