摘　　要：This essay is intended to present a detailed analysis of the three types of ambiguity in English, i.e. phonetic, lexical and structural ambiguities which exert great influence on the understanding in communications. The recognition and removal of them, therefore, is of great necessity for both learners and users of the languages and a full awareness of the context, in which the language is used and which is responsible for the arising of most ambiguities, might well serve as an effective solution to the understanding problem.
