摘　　要：Urban space layout is not just a matter of urban landscape. Urban landscape is a visual impression developed by people in their activities in the urban space. Analysis on the urban landscape can be used to modify deficiency in space layout rather than to replace it. Therefore, in our urban design we must exert ourselves in urban space layout. Particularly, when a general plan of a city is compiled, we must guide urban construction with excellent urban design so that an urban space of individuality can be created. Urban space layout is a dynamic process. Urban design should be the continuation of urban culture. Exist- ing urban space must coexist with developed urban space. In its urban space layout Hefei has recognized, explored and utilized the characteristics of its humanitarian and natural environment, and on top of that, created individuality and attracted the attention of architectural professionals at home and abroad. The most remarkable artistic features of Hefei’s urban space are: urban layout form, urban greening system, urban general space layout and local color in urban design and architectural de- sign. It is these "bright points" that have illuminated this pearl of a city.
