摘　　要：This paper focuses the main development of the studies of Zhang Zai’s philosophy during the latter 50 years of the 20 thcentury in the successive sense of intermission, and made an analysis in detail. The first stage covers over 30 years from 1950’s to 1970’s. The basic characteristic at the stage is that Zhang Zai’s philosophy was primarily regarded as materialism, and secondly as dualism. The second stage covers over 10 years in the 1980s. The main feature of the stage includes not only the heritage of the main ideas of the earlier stage, but the retrospection and new exploration as well. The third stage covers over ten years in the 1990’s with the emergence of the active phenomenon in the studies of Zhang Zai’s philosophy. The characteristic is that it took it as the breakthrough that doubted Zhang Zai’s philosophy of “the gas as the ontology” and “materialism”, which made the research more active ever after. Finally, the paper gives a prospective outlook of the studies of Zhang Zai’ philosophy in the new century.
