摘 要:The rapid increase of the population in British North America, with variations from colony to colony, was a remarkable factor that played a very important role in the social changes in early America. With the movements of the European and African inhabitants, the cultural domain of British North America kept expanding, and the settlement and development of the inland parts of the colonies were greatly accelerated. At the same time, the composition of the population became more and more diversified, thus making the relations between different racial and ethnic groups complicated. From the interactions within colonials of different national origins emerged "a new race of man", i.e., the Americans. But, as the British element in demographic, political, and cultural aspects remained dominant, the other racial and ethnic groups were overshadowed in terms of social and cultural influences.
